Psychotherapy

On this page you can find information about the setting, my specialisation and some practical information e.g. costs.

Setting

I offer psychotherapy in English. You have an option to either do it in-person or online. My praxis can be easily accessed by public transport. I offer the following settings:

Individual one-on-one therapy

When you decide to attend psychotherapy as an individual, you may equally want to process certain emotions that you either don’t understand or would want to bring under control. Individual sessions offer you the best option to deal with and address issues that are personal or relational in nature such as:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Trauma
  • Panic attacks
  • Breakup and conflicts
  • Difficulties in integration for those living in a foreign country
  • Confidence and self-esteem
  • Building and maintaining a healthy relationship
  • Work related issues
  • Self-awareness or development

I will accompany you through these processes and transitions as you seek to achieve your desired status of life. Reach out to me to see how you can make use of my expertise to deal with whatever concerns you may have.

      Family therapy

Change is the one thing that is constant in families. Everyone grows and changes. The desires, plans, behaviours and relationships change. Marriages are broken and the family must live through that difficult transition. It may be that there is a loss in the family, or you are living with a family member who is unwell. Children start, stop or graduate from school. Conflicts arise. Misunderstandings abound. And transitions are the order of the day. These changes may sometimes be a challenge to the good functionality of the family.

In systemic psychotherapy, we strive to understand the perspectives, ideas and concerns of each family member that is present in the therapy process. The uniqueness and individuality of each member is not lost in the process. This helps everyone understand each other ‘s point of view and behaviour. The family is allowed to find new ways of getting along if that is what is needed. Everyone contributes to achieving that.

Reach out to me to see how you can make use of the systemic therapy methods to deal with whatever family concerns you may have.

      Couples therapy

In couple therapy, each is given the space to hear as well as to be heard. The space and expertise provided enables the couple to deal with different concerns such as conflicts, misunderstandings, communication difficulties, parenting, decision making, intimacy, affairs, divorce and separation.

Couple therapy provides you a space to constructively deal with these and many other difficulties and challenges that you may experience in your relationship. Here is an opportunity to be heard and understood. Reach out to me to see how you can make use of this opportunity.

Are you living in Vienna and looking for a psychotherapist who practices in English? I can be of help if you need in-person therapy, although I also cater for online clients. My training has given me the expertise to be able to do therapy with clients that are dealing with difficult situations that are impacting their lives negatively. Sometimes what brings people to therapy is not to solve problems but to simply be heard or get a helping hand as they make certain decisions in their pursuit of personal improvement. It may equally be that you are merely trying to understand yourself. Whatever your reason, give therapy a try and a chance. You could as well be giving yourself a chance.

      Practical information and costs

In order to help you in deciding whether you want to take up therapy with me, I have provided information that is helpful in that regard. I explain the procedure and give you other relevant information, including the price of each session.

      First Interview

When you contact me, we will make an appointment to meet for the First Interview. This is where we get to know each other in person. We also establish what brings you to therapy as well as what you hope to achieve through therapy. This is where I explain how I work and answer any administrative questions that you may have. The duration for the First Interview is the same as that of a regular session. Regular therapy sessions follow afterwards if you decide to continue the process with me. I have a reduced price for the First Interview where Individuals pay 50 € for the 50 Minute Session, and Couples and Families pay 90 €, each for 90 minutes.

The duration and cost of a therapy session is as follows:

      Individual Therapy: (50 min) – 70 €

      Family Therapy: (90 Minutes) – 120 €

      Couples therapy: (90 Minutes) – 120 €

It is possible to arrange for double sessions upon request. My price offer as a Psychotherapist in training under supervision is below the average amount that is charged for psychotherapy. I do not for now have provision for insurance reimbursement. There is room to discuss a reduced rate for those that are in the low-income bracket.

Cancellation policy: No fees are incurred if the cancellation is done 48 hrs before the scheduled appointment.

Obligation to confidentiality: The Austrian Psychotherapy Act of 1991, Section 15 obliges me, as well as my auxiliary staff, to keep confidential all secrets shared with me or becoming known to me in the practice of my profession.

There are however exceptional emergency circumstances that allow me to break confidentiality if there is danger to the life of the client or others. I will inform the client beforehand if I am to break confidentiality.

      Psychotherapy Method

There are very few people that have asked me about my method of therapy in my experience with clients. Most people are only interested in knowing if the therapist has the required proficiency. They want to know whether the therapist has the expertise that are needed to help them to get to or achieve what they want out of the therapy process. Well, my telling you about my psychotherapy method is, in a way, telling you how we can collaboratively work during that process. It’s a therapy method that explores relationships and patterns in wider systems and social contexts of which the family is a part of the whole. From there, you can be able to find what works for you.  As a psychotherapist, I strive to provide you with space where you can be heard without prejudice, as well as deal with you as an individual who is unique. And the Systemic Family Therapy method I am trained in puts me in good stead to accompany and support you on the journey you are embarking on, be it that of self-awareness, personal development, resolving painful experiences, gaining insight or understanding, or whatever it may be that brings you to therapy. “Life is not a problem to be solved, but a reality to be experienced” (S. Kierkegaard). Here lies an opportunity to explore those realities and see what experiences you can make of them.

Psychotherapist in Training under Supervision means that I am at the tail end of my psychotherapy training. At this stage, the therapist is already independently working with clients. Working under supervision serves as a reflection on my work to ensure quality as well as value provision to my clients. And all information shared in supervision is protected by confidentiality contract.
